I'm Terry - the Children's and Special Needs Librarian at Blacktown Library. I'm looking forward to learning more about Web 2.0 - and seeing what opportunities there are for using these resources as another way of connecting with our borrowers.
The impact of the web on all aspects of our service to borrowers is really quite astounding - for example, the simple fact that students will now be more likely to access the net for information for their assignments than to come into the library and borrow a non-fiction item. This has serious repercussions for the way we develop our collections, and our purchasing strategies. As well as for our approaches to the information literacy strategies that we provide for our borrowers.
I'm more familiar with LiveJournal and InsaneJournal - but look forward to 'playing around' with this format, and having a sticky-beak at what others are doing with these types of blogs. I'm interested in the general application of blogging within the library - but also as a means of communicating with a targeted audience, for example as a way of interacting with Home Library Service borrowers who have access to the Internet; or for posting about library resources for current homework assignment topics for students.
I was able to post the above photo - as it was off the Internet. However, I couldn't post a photo that was stored on my work computer. I'm not sure why not - but I'll follow it up with our IT people to see if there's some problem here.
